Quarter-circle, half-circle and full 360 motions no longer take effort or feel unnatural after installing a Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate into your TE or Hori/Sanwa JLF setup. A full 8 corners allows for smoother and more responsive motions for fireball, dragon-uppercut and spinning piledriver attacks. Those investing their time in wrestling chars such as Zangief or Shoto chars such as Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Akuma, and Dan(!), deserve to swap out their existing 4-way gate for this one.
The Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate is compatible with the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick and Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed).
King Main here, and this is a game changer for all my inputs. Wavedashing is so much easier, and I never misinput for a grab! 10/10 definitely worth it. Nate on Mar 21st 2024
the most common and best restrictor gate to use you can't go wrong with it Rudy on Feb 2nd 2024
...But trust me, you'll have to find out yourself! It's Sanwa quality! Unknown on Jul 30th 2023
Feels good, a little more defined than a Kowal gate. The Kowal gate feels more circular and less defined but this is more of an octagon with hard angles. I like both brands of gates and it doesn't effect my play. This fits my Qanba Crystal joystick and maybe in the future I'll buy another one for a JLF when I get another stick. Derek on May 15th 2023
Simple installation and the adjustment to octagonal stick just feel So Smooth! Unknown on Oct 19th 2022
I get it that square restrictor gates are the norm for most sticks these days, but having one of those on your stick just makes it sloppy when it comes to accurately hitting the corners for QC or HC moves in fighting games. Swapping in an octo-gate is the easiest fix one can do to up their game without having to re-train their muscle memory to not push too deep on the diagonals. Highly recommended as an upgrade to any stick that can use it. Frank on Mar 18th 2022
If you like the feel of a circular gate, with deep corners, then this for you. Super easy to install and sturdy when in. Didn’t improve my gameplay but it might be different for you. Javier U on Nov 5th 2020
Modding your stick with one of these is the easiest thing you can do and you’ll probably see drastic improvement in your ability to input commands. Before this I had a square gate and found it somewhat difficult to reliably pull off directional commands and would accidentally jump out of QCF’s. This is a life saver and a game changer! Super easy installation, and it works just as I hoped it would. Especially good for 2D fighters, but unfortunately doesn’t feel as good as a square gate, let alone a Korean, for 3D ones. Overall, highly recommend. Unknown on Feb 19th 2020
I am transitioning into using a fightstick and decided to mod mine with this. As far as I know, installing this piece on the joystick seemed fairly easy. I definitely feel the difference and it is a whole lot better. When playing Tekken I was able to practice better at wave dashing and back dashing. Sh0poww on Feb 9th 2020
