The Brook Super Converter is a USB-based adapter designed to convert your Sony Playstation 3 or Playstation 4 peripheral for use in the opposite Sony console.  For example, you can use a Playstation 3 Fightstick in the Playstation 4 (the most common use), or the Playstation 4 Fightstick in the Playstation 3. It does this without requiring authorization from an original gamepad.  This unprecedented advancement makes the Brook Super Converter the most portable adapter on the market today.

    Full-Featured, Firmware Upgradeable

The Brooks Super Converter has several convenient features to improve the control experience.

    • Accepts FightSticks, wired or wireless PS3 or PS4 gamepads, and steering wheels amongst other original and 3rd party PS3 or PS4 compatible peripherals.
    • Automatically maps to the equivalent buttons on the target console; allows for button customization via intuitive, color-changing LED on the adapter.
    • Supports mapping a single or combination of buttons to a Turbo function for rapid fire play.
    • Ability to hot-swap peripherals without unplugging the device from the console.
    • Vibration support when used on the Playstation 4 console.

In addition, the Brook Super Converter is firmware upgradeable, which can be used to improve functionality, and add new features.  Firmware updates are performed by attaching your device to a Windows PC, or Mac with Boot Camp partition or Parallels Virtual PC software.

    2016 Tournament Acceptance

As of now, the Brook Super Converter is allowed by EVO, one of the most popular global tournament events.  Often EVO's policies are adopted at smaller tournaments. This policy is a tentative acceptance - should the converter become disabled via Sony firmware update before EVO, it could face a ban.  You can learn more about it here (Opens in new window).

    What's Included

The Brook Super Converter comes in its own professionally designed box.  In the box is the device; paper instructions are also included in English and Taiwanese.  You can also download the instructions as a PDF from the Support tab.

Many are reporting that their Converters aren't working properly after performing a firmware update, but actually forgot to properly exit the firmware update process. After performing firmware updates, you MUST remember to exit updating on PS4 Converters by entering the combo keys (three steps) again to exit updating mode.

    1. Press two keys
    2. Press down Left or L3. Don't release
    3. Press down Home/PS key
    4. Release all keys

Below is a visual explaining the steps and buttons on PS3 and Xbox 360 gamepads.  This information is also in the manual, and screens that appear after the firmware is updated.

    1. Super Ease of Use

I have a Qanba Q4RAF for PS3/PC/360 and this adapter works great for my PS4 fighting games that don't support Legacy controllers. The instructions are super clear, easy to follow and it's literally plug and play. Great Buy! on Oct 10th 2019

    2. Works awesome!

It was because of the other great reviews that made me decide to get the converter. As mentioned in the reviews that I read, it works great! Simply plugged thesick into theconverter and then the converter into my ps4 and it worked right away with no issues! on Nov 12th 2018

    3. Excellent product

It does what i claims. I use this USB converter to connect a Logitech DF GT wheel to the PS4 console. The only drawback I noticed is that is it uses the default dual shock button configuration which is different from my wheel buttons. Also some buttons are not activated. on Oct 21st 2018

    4. Amazing Product

No input delay. Works as advertised perfectly. on Feb 19th 2018

    5. Works as advertised

Does exactly what it says. No input delay on Feb 1st 2018

    6. It just works

Plugged my Mad Catz SF4 Tournament Edition to this and it worked right away.

Pro tip: make sure another Xbox One controller isn't on. I couldn't press anything until I turned it off. Once I did, everything worked within seconds.

Great product. Highly recommended if you don't feel like purchasing another stick. Great job!

    7. Works with Cthulhu mod.

I can verify this does work with a cthulhu modded hori vlx diamond. This is a somewhat inexpensive way to add ps4 capability to your ps360 stick. As far as lag is concerned, I did notice a little, but it's hard to tell if that was my LED TV or the stick itself. on Sep 30th 2016

    8. good

      awesome! on Mar 24th 2016

    9. Just Works

Everything works out of the box just as described. Super easy, just plug it into the PS4, connected my PS3 stick via the usb port and it goes! Couldn't be simpler. on Feb 15th 2016

    10. As advertised

The product does what it says. I apparently didn't need to update the firmware for it to work as-is on my PS4. The product has worked great with a PS3 TE1. I also personally use a PS2 Sega Saturn pad with their PS2 > PS4 model converter and it works just as well. It is also a big plus that firmware can be updated for longevity/improved functionality.

If you haven't seen it yet, someone from Tech Talk on SRK did some input lag testing for the device. It has .7 of a frame delay slower than the Skullgirls driver on PS4. Having played personally with many converters, and on many bad setups and in bad online connections, I can't feel any discernible delay. It feels roughly the same as my old PS2 > PS3 InPin, which used to be the standard for converters.

The product is packaged quite nicely, not the usual cheap blister/card packaging every other product of its type comes in. The unit itself feels fairly well made and appears as a flash drive in size and shape. The bright yellow of this one in particular likely means you won't misplace it often. I'm not the biggest fan of yellow personally, and find it somewhat odd something associated with Sony would be, but nonetheless it serves its purpose and is easily identifiable over any other small devices you might have.

In closing, yes, I would certainly recommend this product as well as the PS2 > PS4 version for someone looking for (finally) a solution to use a previous generation PlayStation controller on the PS4. The company seems to have done their homework and have reached out/linked to Tech Talk on SRK, so I think they're really trying to do good work here. Also, remember that the products support firmware updates, so in the event something does happen in a PSN update or they find a way to optimize delay, they can update our products appropriately.
